Reshaping Our Food System
Presented by: Chandler Rosenberg, Plant Based Utah; Natalie McHale, Board Member of Wasatch Cooperative Market, Summit County Health Department
Chandler will present the problems with our industrial, globalized food system with a focus primarily on the planetary destruction. The food system is the largest single sector contributor to fossil fuel emissions and the centralized, corporate controlled system is increasingly dependent on fossil fuels. The food it produces is making us sick and at the same time, many people are still going hungry. In the face of increasing climate disasters, there is also an urgent need to build resiliency in our food system which begins by shifting to a more local food system. Natalie will present the promise of a more localized food system and what that might look like.
