The socio economic context within which we use technologies such as text bots and voice assistants are emerging.  He proposes the thesis that we are transitioning from an era where capitalism was focused on monetizing wasteful consumerism to one that is capitalizing on the ethos of reducing waste.  It is within this ethos of minimizing waste that the imperative to accomplish tasks efficiently with minimal effort is taking hold. To provide the audience with the broad context that explains why we are “suddenly” witnessing yet another major technological disruption.
